The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) today made donations of $3,000.00 each to the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The NOFD supported National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating a shirt for NOFD station wear, which was sold to its members and the general public from NOFD Headquarters and the Local 632 office. Our shirt vender, F & D Sales, Inc. also collaborated with us on this project. One Thousand shirts were sold from August to November 1, 2014 and the proceeds from the sale of the shirts were given to the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Foundation to fund finding a cure for breast cancer.
In the month of October NOFD members were allowed to wear the breast cancer shirt in place of the normal NOFD work shirt worn to show our support for the efforts being made in breast cancer awareness and research.
