New Orleans, LA. – The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD)
is proud to make donations of $6,470.00 each to the
American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
DATE: Friday, February 7, 2014
TIME: 10 am
PLACE: Fire Headquarters 317 Decatur St New Orleans, LA 70130
The NOFD supported National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating a shirt for NOFD station wear, which was sold to its members and the general public from NOFD Headquarters and the Local 632 office in 2012 and 2013. Our shirt vender, F & D Sales, Inc. also collaborated with us on this project. 1,000 shirts were sold in 2013 and the proceeds from the sale of the shirts are being given to the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Foundation in an effort to show our support for finding a cure for breast cancer.
In the month of October NOFD members were allowed to wear the breast cancer shirt in place of the normal NOFD work shirt worn to show our support for the efforts being made in breast cancer awareness research.
